how do I get 5 channel sound from a CD? Is it Dolby Prologic II on a receiver? thanks

That or DTS Neo:6 will do it. All Channel Stereo, if your receiver has that, will also give you sound from all speakers, but it is stereo, not surround sound.

That is, "all-channel" or "5-channel" stereo duplicates the signal in the surrounds/rears and combines them for the centre.


Pro-Logic II/Circle Surround II/Neo:6/Logic 7 in Music modes all rearrange the music across five channels, with potentially a different signal for each channel. Depending on the music on the CD.


Pro-Logic II and Logic 7 are the most configurable of these in this mode.

If you want to do it properly get yourself a Meridian SSP and engage the Trifield DSP. It's ace!
