Would it possible to get an OK sound from (5) Pola Audio RM30's.

It's a temporary setup, but I can get (5) towers for less than 2 towers, 2 satellites and a center.

Would a tower be OK as a center?

I would think in this scenario a Sub would be very beneficial either, unless it was a high end one. The towers should do the work because there is 5 of them...

Thoughts?

BTW, this is a temporary setup. Im looking more at systems liht HTDAUDIO, ROCKET, etc...

I already bought 2 sets of towers because I got a great deal and can make a profit if I decide not to keep them. I will buy a third set tomorrow probably. I can only get one set a day.

Also, anything I could do with the 6th speaker if I went with all towers?

The 6th tower you can use as the rear center channel for a 6.1 setup.

Identical towers all around is the ideal setup IMHO

Would a subwoofer in this scenario benefit me much if it wasnt high end. eg: the Polk Audio 202, 303, 404, etc?

A sub would still be a must with this setup for HT. According to the polk site the RM30 -3db point is 55Hz. These do not go very low. I guess it would be fine for a temporary system though.

Currently $200 - $300 ofr a sub.

When I upograde EVERYTHING, I will look into higher end subs under $1000.

My sub is the only thing I could lose money opn if I sell, so if it's not going to be a difference, I will pass on it for now until I can get a real good one I can keep forever.

A decent sub will definately make a big difference. Maybe this will suit you:

But don't take my word for it as I haven't heard it myself.

For a few hundred bucks more you can get something a lot better so holding off for now and buying a better one in the future is probably a good way to go.
