Just did a refi on our house and a buddy of mine is buying my trusty 2 year old panny 50" for 700.00. i was all set on a 58 but now im thinking 63" or 65".. it's a one shot deal so what the heck. problem is at 10' sitting what big is to big. my 50" just seems to small.

anyone go froma 50" to a 58,63 or 65?

I went from a 52" to 58", sitting at about 10' like you... We will see how it all works out when the football season starts. Right now though, I am very happy. And I better be, because I only have maybe an inch or two to play with size wise. Not much more room to go any bigger.

I went from a 40" RPTV to a 60" plasma. Originally I was going to get a 50" set, but now I'm very glad I didn't. I'm viewing my 60" plasma at 9ft, and frankly, I could see going even bigger. At your distance of 10ft I would go for the 65".

I just upgraded from 50" to 63" and prefer to sit 7-8 feet away. It's great. Not "too big" and I can see the entire screen without moving my eyes, no problem.

+1

one shot deal go big and enjoy it.
It is now obvious your space limits are a 42 incher.
Stop pretending you have all that space for a plasma.

What impresses me is that your XBox doesn't sound like a hurricane in your cabinet. My PS3 has more clearance for ventillation than that and sounds like a hair dryer after 15 minutes, and so many people have told me the XBox is supposedly even worse for overheating...

Not to hijact the OP, my viewing distance is about 16', do you guys think a 50" would be a bit to small?

I think it would.
i have a 63" in my bedroom! 5' vieing distance or maybe 7.

at first i thought i went too big. looks huge. but i got use to it and now i dont imagine going smaller.
First of all...congrats on having a buddy that doesn't realize he could get a brand new 50" for not much more than $700.
Secondly, if you can afford it and have the space..go with the 65".

Well last not i finaly got around at looking at some sets. the 50" looks so small above the 65" it was almost laughable. problem is it might just be to big for my living room. 60 would seem perfect however not really in to a Pio. that leaves the 58".

is it even worth going to a 58" froma 50"?

its just so hard to tell in store.

I'm replacing my 67" DLP (I sit 11 feet back). I was surprised to see that plasmas are only (commonly) available up to 63".

Don't have buyer's remorse. Get what you want.
I am also looking. I sit at 15' and have now a 6yr old 42" panny. I can not find any info on the new Panny s65,g65 or v65. I thought they were dropping in August.
