$500-750 LCD options - advice needed

595 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  adams828
GF wants to get an LCD for her bedroom to replace a 13" CRT, wants to spend ~$500-750. I'm looking for some advice so I can help her find the right tv!

1) She originally wanted a model with built-in DVD, but in that price range my opinion is she'd be better off running DVDs from her laptop so she can get a larger screen. Agree? She problably watches 1 DVD every 7-10 days, so it wouldn't be too inconvinient.

2) She doesn't have (or plan to have) HD cable service now, and I don't know if any TVs in her price range have ASTC tuners.. for regular TV a SD TV would be fine, but would a ED/HD TV provide better DVD veiewing or not?

3) Although getting the largest picture for the price would be nice, we decided that overall PQ is a strong factor in the decision. ie. a 17" with excellent PQ would be preferred over a 21" with medicore PQ.

All that I can think of for now.. but would greatly appreciate any input on my thoughts, things I didn't think of/consider, or any TV model suggestions!

Thanks.

You can get a viewsonic n2750 for around that price, especially if you can catch it on a sale. Nice pic quality for the buck.
