I have a 5040 that went back to Texas once and late last week started doing the stuttering and starting thing. It has done that before so I thought it was a temporary thing. Later in the week it froze up completely. The remote was unresponsive and restarting did not solve it. I went throughout the forums and tried the methods that have worked for others. I removed inputs, unplugged and replugged and even bought a new drive and used a loaded image and am still stuck on "Please Wait". The drive starts, the power light is lit but the fan does not start. The drive was not nearly full but after running Powermax it did show that it was failing. I put in the new drive since I was out of warranty anyway but I would really rather not replace it until I am certain it is DOA.

thanks

Sounds exactly like what happened to me just few weeks ago. Buy you a new hard drive unless it is still under warranty.

Thanks, I had an imaging issue. It's now back and running. Thanks for all the suggestions and support.
