Has anyone carried out direct comparisons between 50hz and 75hz in PAL ? id be interested to know what if any are the trade offs By going to a higher frequency.

For me running my BG808s at 75hz results in a slightly softer picture because of the extra bandwidth needed (I was scaling to 1280x720x75hz which works out at around 105mhz of video bandwdith). Therefore I would say if you can't notice the flicker at 50hz then stick to it.

I prefer 75hz to 50hz.

I didn't notice any drop in sharpness. And if I did the increase in "solidity" and depth to the image more than makes up for it.

It does depend on your projector and your eyes.

I'm running a 6PG Xtra FWIW.

I run an NEC XG110 at 4x3 1080p using 75Hz. Its fed by a Lumagen HDP. I pefer 75 hz to 50Hz much better picture all round.....no loss in sharpness or light output.

Bandwidth dilemma approaching....

1920x1080p at 75hz is a big big ask from a bandwidth point of view. Even for a G90, 50hz is a better match for the bandwidth, but it may flicker.

You could always try 1920x1080 interlaced at 75 hz, or even 100hz. At 100hz interlaced it's the same bandwidth as 50hz progressive, but it *probably* won't flicker.

But I've never seen a G90......
