52xbr6 and Sony PS3 = no signal?

Hi, anyone have any advice, I've updated the firmware on the PS3 and the TV, but still "no signal" when I hook up *sony* PS3 with *sony* 52xbr6 !!!

The hilarious thing is, when I hook up *sony* PS3 with my *samsung* T240HD 24'' monitor ($300), it works through HDMI every time!

Called sony TV tech support and they blamed it on the PS3, called sony PS3 tech support and they blamed it on the TV.

I fail to see how it can be a problem with the PS3 when it works with the samsung through hdmi?

Finally the sony TV tech support authorized that they would send a repairman to check my TV's HDMI ports... I dont think i want to go that far, since the TV works with every other device I have thrown at it through HDMI (laptop, blu ray player, DSS box)

I tried various HDMI cables, reset the PS3 many different ways using composite cables first , etc , etc as walked through by sony PS3 tech support, still NO SIGNAL....

Am I to be relegated to playing in blurry component hookup for PS3 with my beautiful new XBR tv?

edit: May 2nd 2012 -- problem fixed! (scroll down)

first you have to calm down when your ready let me know
ok. first hook up the regular cable the yellow red white. next turn your tv to the yellow red white input. when your there let me know
i am excited to see the result of this as well.. and i dont have a sony tv...
basically this is what you do you hook up the regular cable as well as the hdmi. turn the tv input to the regular cable go to display settings! turn it to hdmi, then switch the input to hdmi, you only have 30 seconds so switch it fast than select hdmi. done

Thanks but you didnt read my first message, I already did that about *10 times* over the phone with sony PS3 tech support, thats the first thing they told me to do, you hook up the original cable and HDMI then tell it to switch to HDMI and you have a few seconds to switch to that input and tell it ok....

when i switch , it says NO SIGNAL!
are you switching to the right input ? there multiple hdmi ports?
if your using component cables then you don't need the regular cable.
yes, i'm switching to the right input, yes i tried different HDMI ports , there are 5 of them
is the cable plugged in all the way on the ps3?
yes the cable has been plugged in many times, with samsung TV it works EVERY TIME
don't no what to tell you! it sounds like the tv is bugged out

well that wasnt so exciting after all.. it seems that either you are missing a setting somewhere on either the ps3 or the tv, or there is one of those weird voodoo hdmi handshake issues between the sony tv and the ps3. which is even more frustrating because they are the same brand.
you said you tried alot of differnt things, resets etc.

did you try this:

power up the sony tv.. let it boot (which is what it seems these tv's do nowadays)

then with the ps3 off and connected to the sony tv, hold down the power button until it beeps.. then release it. this is supposed to force the playstation to boot up and recognize the device attached to it..

if you already tried that then i also have no better solution... sorry..

what if it's the setting that the PS3 is outputting? I don't remember how to reset the resolution output on the PS3, but I think it was by holding the Eject button for a few seconds.

A year ago, I didn't have a HDTV and so it always outputted at 480p on my RPTV. I brought it to my cousins BDAY party and connected it into a 1080p TV and so they changed the settings. When I connected it back to my TV, it also says 'no signal'. I was scared so I decided to connect it into my computer moniter and it worked. I changed the setting back to 480p and it worked again

The problem with that situation was that I had to copy down how much I have to scroll up/down/left/right because I connected via HDMI on my monitor and HDMI will keep it's own settings. I couldn't connect on component becuz my monitor doesnt have that connection. You'd have to use the component cable to change the component settings.

I know the TV is 108op but it doesnt hurt to try if you havent already

Beyond holding down the power button on the console until it beeps, I don't know how much more you can do. It worked flawlessly the first time with my 46XBR6. You are hooking it up directly to the tv, right? There's no receiver, HDMI switch, etc involved.
yep, i tried your suggestions, still no signal - must be some weird handshaking issue - i'm stuck with using component for now
