Symptoms: 5 minute pauses every 15mins or so while watching bluray MKVs. the computer is NOT frozen during this time, just the video/audio, but randomly just starts playing again with coherant audio but wrong paced video at first, then resyncs ~15secs upon replaying


Testing bed: WMC with lav, MPCHC with lav, mpchc with lave + madvr, all have same symptoms


Equipment: win7 x64, i5 960, 8gigs of ram, ssd main drive, 5400rpm hitachi's, nvidia 550ti



Is this a LAV issue (that's what i have it narrowed down to) or an nvidia thing?

every single mkv. same drivers for a while. only thing updated has been lav i'd wager

Is a complete system re-install out of the question? Your issues are very strange.

have done a full reinstall twice. im thinking a full reinstall with no windows updates, and see what happens, and start doing one update at a time.

Virus checkers?

Are media files local or on network? Check your power options too - is the Hitachi drive spinning down after 15 mins?

I don't use the Hitachi drives but this is a great idea.

only ms essentials. local drives. why would the drive try to spin down when in use?

i just turned off idle hard drive in the power settings. any where else it could be tellin the disks to spin down? testing now.

nope. froze within 2 mins of playing. i've switched the movie around to different drives, even to the ssd

new 280.xx nvidia driver installed. same issue.

Have you tried using another software player such as TMMT5?

Give JRiver Media Center 16 a try. Free trial. So far I have not seen anything it can't do/play. IMHO

this system worked flawless at one point. tmt5 is a joke right now with nvidia. i dont much care for jriver

I suggested trying TMT5 to just see if that solved the issue.

jbcain --- I would try to strip everything down and see if it was a software issue. Even just use WMP and play a file without all the added codecs and renderers.


Does that fix the problem?

thats what i meant too. i did, but it looks like its playing at 1/3 speed

jsut did a fresh install, no windows updates at all. installed latest nvidia, latest lav, and its the same god damn thing, wtf!!!!

are you sure these videos you are using aren't damaged?


also, are you using lav video or lav splitter or both?
