Hello there... so I've been playing around with a home built MCE and have everything working and now I'm trying to playback a Windows Media 9 asset with 6 channels... I can't get that to work on my Dolby Digital receiver. Is there something special I need to have or do?

I can play DVDs just fine... how does MSFT expect to have people to adopt WMV 6 channels when it doesn't even work with a 5.1 receiver?

Any advise would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Danny

You can get it to work only if you have your soundcard hooked up to the receiver via the analog connections. The only way to get it to work via spdif is if the content is already encoded with dolby digital or DTS.

Right now with almost all of wm9 content is encoded with wma (windows media audio) 5.1, so it has to be decoded by wm9 and sent through the analog connections.

People at MS have said in the past that DD can work but right now there is no content that has been encoded with it.
