6000 Drops Closed Captioning on OTA NTSC

I just discovered this little bug (which really has no impact to me), but I thought it was interesting:

When you use the 6000 to tune OTA NTSC channels, the closed captioning (and XDS) information is somehow stripped from the VBA. Of course, I was viewing in SD mode (via S-video connector). I rarely use the OTA tuner because it is not that good, but it's interesting that the 6000's circuitry manages to remove the VBA information. Maybe it's doing an A-to-D on the visible scan lines first, then a D-to-A downstream for final output.
