I'v been struggling with getting my HTPC to display correctly on my 32" 4:3 HDTV using a geforce2MX video card output through an AA 9A60 transcoder. I would love to get it to work using a 720x540p resolution but this does not seem possible.

I've since reverted to getting 640x480P to work correctly. Using powerstrip I created a custom timing and edited it to fit the screen properly. When I was done I ended up with a resolution of 640x400. I kept all timings at 31.5hz and 60hz. I'm wondering if it is ok to continue to display this resolution on my TV even though my total vertical lines does not equal 525? I have tried keeping the vertical total at 525 but I get extremely excessive overscan at this setting.

I have also tried 640x480p in 540p timings but I end up with a severly underscanned display. It leaves 2" black bars around the entire screen.

Any help or advice on this would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Rob

Welcome to Powerstrip hell. It's rather hot in here, ain't it? Just out of curiosity, what brand of 32" 4:3 set do you have? Mine is a Samsung TXM3281HF.

Rob-

I designed a 600x450 Powerstrip resolution when I had a Sony rear-projection HD set and a GeForce 2 MX board. It worked fine, despite the miscellaneous PS and Windows 'warnings'. If you want to try it, I can send you the timing details.
