So been looking for a projector for a couple of days. While I would like one for $13-$15k that just isn't going to happen unless someone decides to donate one to me..... no so ok my actual budget is about $3,000. I would be willing to stretch it to max of $4k, but that should really add something to the overall picture....


So looking around has led me to two projectors - good reviews and both are from last year.


The two are Epson 6500UB or Sony VPL-HW10 -- am I missing something and is there a consensus about one of these being the better one?


Finally any good rumors about this years versions? Should I simply wait and get a 2009 model instead??

They both have their good points and bad.Myself I would get the sony.But with your budget you can get the JVC.Just call Jason here at AVS and have the best

I would go with the Epson. It had better reviews on www.projectorreviews.com and Epson has better customer service. Of you can afford the JVC RS1 then get that.

Considering current rebates etc the JVC RS1 is almost 50% more. I realize it is a better projector but that is pretty hard to swallow...


2 Guys getting on here and saying get it does make me wonder though - hmm time to review that budget....


Any other input from anyone that owns one or two of these?

I just ordered an Epson 6500UB. With the rebate that expires July 31, it seems like an excellent deal. I have had very good experiences with Epson customer support for a previous projector.

Being that were getting close to sept'when all the new fp get annouce.That waiting could be wise.

for myself, I am waiting for new PJ's - partly becuase my theater room wont be done till mid Sept.....

Thanks guys - the waiting thing is always the issue. The Epson deal might come and go or it might be back..... Either way other receivers might be discounted as well.


Guess I will wait and hopefully it won't cost me. I know how this will go though

-- the sub $3k projectors will run out, I won't want the new ones and then I get one for $4-5K.....
