What is the new model to replace the 65H80? What features will it lose, what will be added. Anyone know any good information on these... The 65H80 are going for like $2500 will the new models stay around this range?

Thanks!

Its like 150lbs lighter! And a bit smaller dimensions too. I think they're might be using totally different tubes, but not sure on that one.

It's supposed to be out in September.

According to an authorized dealer I talked to, the H81 series is supposed to have better CRTs, plastic-composite chasis (as in Sonys) vs the mdf etc, available in September at the same MSRP as the H80 line(I asked about the 65H81). He had no information on the quality of the line doubler.

What are the differences between the 65H81 and 65HX81 besides $500. (Note I did not say the 65H80 & 65H81).

The 'X' model (Cinema Series) adds better 'Niltava' (don't ask!) lenses and a polished aluminum screen bezel, possibly among other features (I think a better sound system too, but I'm not 100% sure on this).

Thanks John,

I was wondering if the doubling/3:2 inverse telecine may be improved as well.

Tim

BTW the manual does not mention the HX, but a great resource. Remote looks the same as TW series. 1/2 mute, Ant 2, and a few items look like improvements.

Also from Perfect Vision this month, DNR has to be turned ON for 3:2 pulldown to work.

If you look closely at that new manual, you'll notice a new menu option related to the scan doubler. The available settings are Film/Auto and Video. In film mode, it looks to reverse the 3:2 process.

This is why I mentioned the Perfect Vision article.

You need BOTH

- the setting to Fil On or Fil/Auto

Care to interpret the response from Toshiba? Does this unit look better on paper that the 65H80 ?
I would assume the items with "New" in front are new or improved features over the current generation... but I'm just guessing.
