It's back again; the ever popular "name your own price" from 6th ave. Only until 7/23.

I just have to chime in that there was not ONE person who did this deal and posted their results that I did not find the same or BETTEr price on what they posted by looking around. It is more marketing hype than anything, but it is perfect for someone who has a fixed budget for an item and does not feel like looking around...

Best,

Chris
Well, I just put in an offer of $1400 for a Denon 4310 AVR. We'll see what happens. I believe the lowest price from an authorized dealer is around $1500-$1550.

Best,

ok, I will stop posting these. We have enough "noise" to work through
Lazy Tom,

This was no slam against you for posting but just a simple reminder for people that want to save some money to look around. The 6th ave deal is a good model for people that say"I have $200 for a Panasonic BD-60" and don't care if they save another 10-20 dollars. For them it is about convenience....

Best,

Chris

PS You want "hoise" head over to the blu ray thread on best deal....oh my...

thanks for saying Chris. I did not take it as a slam but as an honest statement of "not a real (best) deal".

Oh, and I did look at the blu ray thread on best deal.... shudder....

They finally responded. They countered at $1448 plus free shipping and no tax. What do you think? I'm not sure I'll find a lower price from an authorized dealer at this time.
When I called Elctronics Expo they quoted me $1400 shipped for the 4310. This was a few weeks ago. the only problem was that they had to charge me sales tax. If you are not in IL you may try them...

Thanks Chris. I'll give them a call Monday and see what they can do.
Chris,

This may be true for products like Denon receivers, but I can tell you for certain display devices you cannot replicate the prices they are giving you. If you are in NY and wish to pick up some of these fragile display devices at the store, and have a warranty on the product you cannot reproduce the price. Shipping flat panels is not worth the hassle for a 100-200 dollar difference from a no name store.

Good example... best price on a Samsung UN32b6000????? who will guarantee to take the unit back if it does not function correctly on arrival.

Don,

You're telling me two different things here...

You say "you can not replicate the prices they are giving you" and then you say it's "not worth the hassle for a 100-$200 dollar difference". It's either the best price or its not!

I totally get what you are saying about shipping these beasts, but I would rather take the chance on a $200 savings (10% of the price of the unit?) and deal with any problems that may arrive. If you have a GOOD credit card company, you will have no issues. I have ordered thousands of dollars in goods and have had very few issues.

One seller who sold me a flat panel awhile back, came DOA. He told me to take it in for warranty work. I called the trucking company had them pick it up as defective and contacted American Express. Boom! No credit issued.

Now for some peole the 6th ave is the way to go for ease and piece of mind! I totally respect that philosophy as well!

I got a 60" plasma delivered from Kentucky with no problems. In addition to me having to strap it to the roof of one of my vehicles if I purchased locally and didn't want to pay a delivery charge, I saved $600 over the best local price. The driver even helped me carry it into the house.

So, I would disagree with you're reasoning and the delta in final cost. Much, much more is to be saved purchasing via web, with relatively low additional risk. BTW, ironically, I purchased a 60" rear projection from 6th Ave, saved a ton over local, and had no problems with the shipping/delivery.
