After my projector install I am now setting close to the back wall. I went from 7.1 to 6.1 can I combine the signals of both surround back channels out of the prepro to the input of 1 amp for my 1 rear back channel? I have a short sub cable with the Y built in I can use in reverse.

Thanks for you reply

If the 7.1 preamp/controller is outputting a 6.1 signal (like DD EX or DTS 6.1 ES Discrete) there is NO need for the resistors or Y adapters. Since BOTH back surround channels have the SAME mono information, just use ONE of the back surround preouts to your back surround amplifier.

In addition, there should be a setting for one or two back channels, just in case the preamp has any kind of 7.1 processing, though, unless it's a Meridian, or Lexicon, it's not likely. My NAD receiver has a "L" or "L/R" for choosing 6.1 or 7.1 setups.
