My receiver will be Onkyo 807.

This is what I want for under $3,000 excluding receiver (7.2 setup)

All Speakers and subs from same company

Floorstanders for the Front L/R

Dedicated but matched Center

4 identical wall mountable Surrounds (direct, bipole, or dipole) open to either

2 identical subs

Was looking at companies such as: Klipsch, Polk, JBL, Definitive Technology, and Paradigm. Any ideas on what would be the best bang for under $3,000???

Take your time, shop around, go listen with your own music if music is a priority for these. Better subs are usually made by companies (SVS, eD, Bic, HSU, etc) not on your list because they don't have to match your other speakers. Paradigm should be at the top of your list. Polks are bright, Energys are warm and neutral. B&W, Wharfedale, PSB, Monitor Audio, Aperion, etc are others to look at.

Thanks cornhulio. I forgot to say main use will be for TV/Movies. Blu-ray, DVD, and HDTV. Some music but not a ton.

You have a good budget. Definately go out and audition to see what you prefer. PSB and Monitor Audio are currently at a great price online as well. For HT, I enjoyed Klipsch and DefTech. I enjoyed Paradigm for both music and HT. I haven't heard newer model JBL but my uncle had some old JBL and sounded great for HT. Polk, they just seem so entry level (besides their LSi series), with your budget, you can do better. You might want to look into use or ID brand as well.

I would definately go ID on the subwoofer or if you are handy, a DIY subwoofer would be a good way to go as well.
