So I am stuck debating here.... I just purchased an Antec EarthWatts Green EA-750 watt semi modular power supply for $35 after rebate: http://www.frys.com/product/6416192?...H:MAIN_RSLT_PG .

I almost ordered the 380 watt version for $40 no rebates: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817371033 .

I have this case coming http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811204035 which accepts a full size atx power supply.

The specs for this htpc are 1x500 gb 5400 ide drive, 1 x sata bluray, Phenom II X3 3.0ghz, 1 x 2gb ddr3 stick, and an AMD 785g motherboard with built in Radeon 4200 and optical 7.1 surround sound. That is all that that is going into this machine.

My question is, for a little cheaper and for modular, should I stick with the 750 watt which is WAY above what I need for power? But the modular part makes better cabling and air flow.

Or do I buy the one that other one that is more close to my power needs, but requires all the cables to be stuck in the case?

Is there going to be a large difference in cost of electricity per month for running the 750 vs the 380?

Arent PicoPSU dc to dc? And so far I have found that the cpu cooler is louder than the psu/case fans.

Do you think there is a big difference in cost of electricity between the two?

Personally I would go with the modular unit.

i had this same debate today, and since i don't know where my PC may be 1-2 years from now, the choice was easy with the Antec 750. Which modular aside (you can organize cables anyways) is a solid PSU. Plus this gives me the headroom i need for any future upgrades.

I just installed an OLD Antec True 430 in my bedroom htpc today which uses the Silverstone SG02-F case. What a nightmare with all the extra cables. I think I will hold onto the modular one.
