I'm an happy owner of a Toshiba MT8, same as Infocus 7200.

but

the lamp life advertised is a bit confusing :

Toshiba says it last 1500 hours

Infocus says it last 2000 hours in high power, 3000 hours in standard mode

In my MT8 manual, it says the projector will ask for a bew bulb after 1980 hours on the lamp timer!

So, when I reach 1980 hours, I'm wondering what to do.

Change bulb, reset the timer and wait 1000 more hours or just wait for the bulb to die ?

Aint the last option dangerous for the projector in case of lamp explosion ?

Thanks for your replies.

The following info has been posted on the forum in the past by Bob Williams, one of the designers of the SP7200.

The lamp is rated at 2000 hrs on high power, and 3000 on low power.

The PJ will give a lamp hours warning message on the screen at 2000 hours regardless of what power the lamp was run at. Turning the PJ off makes the message go away. The PJ does not shut down and force you to do a lamp change. Keep using the lamp if you want to.

When you reset the lamp timer by going into the menu, it starts to count down the next 2000 hours of lamp usage.

The bulb is in a protetive housing. It won't damage the PJ if it bursts.

However, IMHO, you may want to replace the bulb when it gets old because they get dim.
