My projector is a NEC XG135LC, and will do either. I switched the receiver last night to 1080i, and saw that I'd probably have to do some tweaking (shifting, blanking) to the 720p picture, but not much.

Any benefit to setting this at 720p? I thought nearly all the HD stuff out there is 1080i.

I have a very similar set up to yours.

I have toggled back and forth between 720P and 1080I to see which I like better. They both have pros and cons.

The 1080I appears to be a little brighter for some reason and it is more stable and easier work on the PJ, however, I can see the the interlace "shimmer" on brite sceanes.

The 720P on the other hand seams to be sharper yet it appears to be a little unstable. I notice that the on screen menus and the internal test grid are real jittery with the 720P. Its wierd because I use 1280 x 720 with my PC with no problems. It may have something to due with the fact that the source material is 1080I and it has to be converted to 720P

Anyway, I use 1080I without any problems and I love it.
