I installed my 7UY (like i said in a previous thread). I changed the setting for the ones recommended by Harkness, since i use s-video for std Sat box and component for DVD. I am still getting some strange images even if my PQ is pretty good. The effect that bugs me is that sometimes there is like a halo , wavy effect in the colors. When looking at an arm you can see like color bands instead of on solid color. Is this the dreaded flesh-tone effect?How can it be fixed ?


One other stupid question is concerning the power off-stand by function. What are you guys using? Standby comes when closing the power with the remote (red light appears) . Is it better to push the power button on the display to close everything???

This isn't a direct answer to your question but I would suggest trying your composite input for your satellite receiver and see if that makes any difference. To my eyes the composite looks a little better than the S Video input. Others have reported similar findings but I'm not sure what the explanation is.

How often do you see the effect? I have the 4UY and virtually never see this problem. The 7UY is supposed to have an expanded gray scale gradation so you should be even better off.


One thing, and this may sound odd: try finding a scene with this color banding and start raising contrast. See if that helps. There are some technical reasons, why too low contrast may cause banding in a plasma.

Use the Remote Control to turn the Display off and leave it on standby.
