My 50" 7UY is to be delivered in the next 5 hours... The wait is excruciating. While I'm waiting I wanted to know whether I should wait for the HDMI card to come out or buy the DVI card now. I have a few other posts trying to figure out whether or not to just stick with component video too.

If I get the DVI or HDMI card, do I lose the component input, or does it fit in the empty slot?

I'm not an owner, but whhy would you rush? You can absolutely, positively live without the digital input for a few weeks and then you can do the common-sense thing and buy the more future-proof input in the HDMI card.

That's clear to me at least as the path.

I was thinking the same thing and just ordered the DVI/HDCP terminal. I am not sure why I would need HDMI since no HD audio signals is being fed to the display. Unless your HD source has only HDMI outputs, I could'nt think of the value added.

Since I am not 100% sure regarding the differences, anyone -- please correct me if I am missing something.

Why do people stress out on a item that cost around 3% of the total price. I am buying the DVI and if and when it is essential that I buy HDMI I will spend another 3% so it will be optimized for the future.

My understanding is that HDMI will not do NR of 1366 x 768 so I'm sticking with the DVI blade. Since I'll be hooking the panel to my HTPC, I'd like to have NR.

Heck I might not even buy the DVI blade as I hear the PQ difference is minimal compared to VGA/Component.

Yeah, I concur since beyond the NR issue, video card headers are DVI and not HDMI (I know there are converters, but why do if you don't have to). For HTPC purposes (IMO) DVI>HDMI. However for TV... the opposite is true. If push comes to shove you can get both as long as you are phasing out your old component sources or have a new switch/receiver to handle other types of signals.

If you have existing devices with DVI, then get DVI. Otherwise wait for HDMI. The future is HDMI. STB, DVD players, Receivers will all be moving towards HDMI.

At least you have one advange, you can install 1 DVI blade and 1 HDMI blade.

I personally would not buy a new TV today with DVI, I would hold out for HDMI. I have no existing DVI devices and no need for computer input which affects my decision. I am waiting to replace my DVD player with a DVD changer and Receiver with models that include HDMI. Even more devices will be available come 2005 HDMI equiped - I am hoping Denon includes these options on more of their equipment line than just their flagship products.
