My new 811 will seemingly not see the 110 sat. I previously had two separate legacy dishes / lnb's (119 & 61.5) and an SW-21 feeding a 5000. I hooked up the 811, did a check switch, and it saw both 119 & 61.5 fine, and received channels from both.

When I tried to realign the 61.5 dish to 110, the 811 does not see it. I double & triple checked my az & el numbers, verified the mast is plumb, did all sorts of az sweeps at slightly different el settings, etc.

I then covered up the 119 lnb, did a new check switch, and tried to find 110 by itself. Still no dice.

My guess is that the 811 and legacy lnb / switch are not working together properly. Any ideas?

According to Dish Advanced tech support, if the 811 saw 119 & 61.5, it should also see 110.

I have done more sweeps and still can not see 110.

Originally the 811 had a problem with the DP equipment, not the Legacy equipment. It wouldn't find the wing satellites. So it's really strange that the Legacy switch is not working with the 811. Just as a sanity check - can you hook up your old 5000 and verify that you are on 110?

The other alternative is to bypass your switch and hook the 811 directly to the 110 satellite feed. This will verify that the 811 sees the 110, and you are peaked.

Thereafter you can experiment with putting the 110 satellite on the various switch inputs. I have heard of problems when the 119 is not connected to the switch "A" satellite.

I had a bad SW64 once - it would occaisonally lose satellites (especially 148) and I would fuss with the cabling and viola! it would work again for several months. Took me a while to isolate. Have you had prior problems while using the 5000?

I hope this helps in some way.

Ok, sounds like I need to try 110 by itself. I think 119 is on Input B and 110 is on Input A of the SW-21. I can also try the 5000 and see if it picks up 110.

None.

So do I, but sincere thanks for all the input regardless.

Eureka!

As soon as I disconnected the SW-21, I found 110. Then I reconnected the SW-21, did a check switch, and both 119 & 110 showed up as expected.

Covering up the 119 lnb with aluminum foil stopped the signal from getting to the receiver, but I still could not 'see' 110 until disconnecting the SW-21.

Ripper,

Thanks a ton for the ideas. If I can ever help you in any way, please let me know.

Thanks,

Ken
