9 Amplifiers For Your Home Theater
We round up 9 amps for a number of installs, from surround sound to audio distribution.

For many of us who love CE hardware, amplifiers have a special place in our hearts.

While it's generally advised that, when speaking with clients, those of us who are technophile propeller-heads need to tone down the techno babble and idol worship, sometimes it's hard!

Amplifiers are still some of the most important components in hi-fi, surround sound, or home integration systems.

We've rounded up nine interesting power amplifiers: some intended for surround sound and/or music listening, others for audio distribution.

Behringer A500

While some audiophile types sneer at commercial amps as mid-fi, many others love the power they often deliver at a budget price. In recent months, the two channel Behringer's A500 power amp has found converts on many audiophile Internet forums, who've declared it a best-bang-for-the-buck product.

Krell Evolution 400

When one thinks of big, good looking, great sounding power amps, Krell is one of the first names that comes to mind. For the client who believes that price is secondary to performance, the Evolution line of A/V equipment pulls out all the stops.

The Evolution 400 monoblock amplifier is rated at 400 Watts RMS at 8 Ohms, 800 Watts RMS at 4 Ohms, and 1600 Watts RMS at 2 Ohms.

Denon POA-3012CI

Denon has begun to take the custom channel more seriously, as evidenced by their new CI range of hardware. Accordingly, their new POA-3012CI is a 6-zone, 6-source, 12-channel distribution amp, that delivers 30 Watts per channel into 8 Ohms.
