I've read so many plasma threads i'm about to go crazy....

Was settled on the Panny G15, than found out about blacks going awol after so many hours.

Than looked at some Sammy's, the 650 models look nice but out of my price range and people are saying buzzing is annoying.

Looks like Sammy's blow away Pannys when it comes to standard Def? (Although I do have directvHD)

Would like a 1080p if possible, but might have to settle for a 720?

Size I would like:

40-46 (perfect would probably be 40-42)

I would also like to point out that I will be wall mounting the tv.

Room:

Medium room with 1 big window (not behind me) Big tree outside of house so room is always shaded so...... not bright, not dark

Tv Position: The reason i would like to go with Plasma is I'm watching TV at a wierd angle: It's directly in front of my couch but Above my fireplace mantle so about 6 feet in the air. So I'm looking up at the TV. From where our heads are on couch when watching TV to distance of touching TV would be about 12 feet

I'm seriously going spastic reading all these reviews of people loving on or hating on...For that little bit of money...what are my best options?

I know this a typical newbie thread, but I'm burnt out.

Thanks!

.. best choice, Panasonic tc-p46s1; buydig, newegg, vanns or amzn for price.

add: fm dist. stated, (a tad more), Samsung pn50b550 would be much better; amzn.

.. 450 is 720p & 550, 1080p. believe an extra HDMI input also, plus maybe OT inputs (usb, etc.)

unsure of the reference to changing SM settings to offer improvements in capabilities; believe some have changed the B550 to B590. need to check that thread out that references this trick.

Get a 50" 720p, and a BluRay. If you shop around, you can land it all for under $900 (with tax).

yep

we recently got a Panny 50X1 720p and at the price paid locally we could have got a 100 dollar BD player as well and be at your budget but i already had a BD player

we sit 10' away and look up at it as well because its mounted above the fireplace and it looks great, much much better than the 40" 120hz Toshiba LCD we returned and got the plasma for $25 less!
