Im replacing a older onkyo HTS-system 2 THX certified sub that came with a system I won years ago.. The sub had 2-12s and sounded pretty good... currently my TV room is about 18x12 and I like bass...lots of it.. watch alot of movies and listen to music mostly hip hop and then classic rock, metal....Ive been researching some subs and I am leaning towards the Klipsch R115SW, HSU VTF-15H-MK2, and possibly the Klipsch R112SW. I have not heard any of these nor do I know any place around my area where I can hear them... Does anyone have any experience or thoughts on these subs... or any others that compare.

I'll paste here exactly what I had posted in a (very) similar thread:

"IMO, you can do a lot better for $899 (MSRP).

Take a look at Hsu Research, Reaction Audio and Power Sound Audio, to name a few.

HSU:

VTF-3 MK5
$799 + $89 S/H: http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/vtf-3mk5HP.html

VTF-15H MK2
$899 + $109 S/H: http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/vtf-15hmk2.html

Reaction Audio:

PS-15x (sealed)
$799 with free shipping: http://reaction-audio.myshopify.com/...aled-subwoofer

V-15 (ported)
$749 with free shipping: http://reaction-audio.myshopify.com/.../products/v-15

Power Sound Audio:

XS15se (sealed)
$799 with free shipping both ways: http://www.powersoundaudio.com/colle...roducts/xs15se

XV15se (ported)
$899 with free shipping both ways:http://www.powersoundaudio.com/colle...roducts/xv15se

Good luck:)"

Curious, what's wrong with the old sub? You talk about it in the past tense so wondered if it crapped out or you sold it or?

ps I agree, forget about the Klipsch

I tap on the circuit board on the back side of the heat sink and it pops off and on.. Ill eventually replace the plate amp and use it for another room... Just not the main..
So you do have the option of simply replacing the amp. Whether you use the same form factor is up to you; one of the iNuke dsp amps might be a good way to keep your old sub working well and give you some options down the line as well....
