I have an option to buy the above and although it works, the red tube is a bit burnt. I know that the tubes in this projector are supposed to have a bit more raster area, and was wondering if they were still rebuildable at a decent price.


If not, how much for new ones? Yes, I checked the archives, but nothing on the replacement of the tubes on the 9PG"extra" .

apparently NEC is getting rid of its CRT tubes - because they stopped making CRTs. hence try calling your local NEC distributor. apprently it shoudl be quite cheap

My guesstimate:


NOS would probably be $695 retail each.

Rebuilt arounf $495 with core charge.

Green are the toughest to get (wear or burn the fastest)


Doug Baisey or Curt Palme can get it for you but they are probably back-ordered two months.

It's my understanding that the Extra used MEC tubes rather than the PG and the PG+ that used NEC tubes. Diffferent beasts mught end up being different prices.


I've never had an Extra, so I can't help you. sorry!
