I have a new sound bar Yamaha YSP-2200 that is hooked up a new Panasonic plasma TC-P65VT30.

I hooked it up using HDMI and not optical.

My question is: How can I get it to output 5 beams (or more) instead of 3 beams. It seems that I am not getting 5.1 sound with just 3 beams. The front read out of the bar indicates the following:

HDMI3 St3Bm

I am assuming that the 3 means that it is only outputing sound in 3 beams. How can I change it to 5 beams or more? I push though all the buttons on the remote control but I cannot get the 3 beams to go higher. Can any owners of this sound bar show me how to do it (step by step) please?

Thank you.

Read its manual section "Changing the audio output method for surround playback" on page 29.

Thank you so much. I finally get it to work by reading page 29. Somehow I missed that page, even when I once looked in the index page for the information.

Now the sound coming from the YSP-2200 sound so much better. I can actually hear the surround sound effects.

Once again, thanks.
