Not sure if Im posting in the right forum here but here it goes. I have been a Directv customer for 5 years now. I have a SOny receiver in one room and the UTV box in the other. I am interested in the HDTV area now and I am wondering exactly what I need to switch over. I know I need a HDTV capable TV , now do I need a DTV receiver thart accepts HDTV and what about my dish ? Any help I would appreciate , I am a novice with the HDTV scene. Thanks.

John,

You will need some type of digital receiver. Most, but not all, receivers will have directv incorporated in them, as well as the Over The Air reception (2,4,7, etc....). The directv HDTV will require an elliptical dish (or multiple dish's), where the OTA will require some type of antenna, which really varies based on your location. You can read alot of info on the boxes on this site, they are most commonly referred to as STB ( Set Top Box). Good luck with your HDTV!!
