1. What is it?

2. Do I need it? I only watch DVDs through my HTPC. I went to the site to download it and all it talked about was Divx.

Hmmm. Didn't think this was a difficult question.

People are still digesting their chocolate.

Ffdshow is a direct show post processor. It allows you to apply various sharpening, blurring, noise reduction, etc...... to video sources (MPEG, DIVX, DVDs, etc)

Since it is a S/W function it can be fairly CPU intensive. Most here will agree that it is a must have for the ultimate in DVD playback picture quality. Of course everyone has their own favourite setting.

There is a long thread on the resize filter (currently the most popular). Look for that and try playing around with it.
