I'm currently in the market for a new TV.

My toshiba 65h80 is having some bad convergence drift. A week or so after i converge it i can see the red gun creeping again. Should I live with it and wait for the new sammys? Or jump on the bandwagon and snag a nice new DLP now?

Here are the two sets I'm looking at.

1 - Mits WD-62725

2 - Samsung HLP-6163W

(couple other side questions if anyone wants to answer them)

When is the non kirk xHD3 line supposed to hit the stores?

Do you think the new 1080P line of Samsung will be out soon (really meet their projected dates?)

Will 1080P really get me anything (no stations are running this)?

Any comments, or thoughts would be appreciated!

Wait for the new Toshiba Cinemas Series DLP with the new 1080p "TALEN X" engine. Don't buy Samsung or Mits. They overprice their TVs. 1080p will allow you to watch the full resolution of HD-DVD or Blu-Ray discs that is going to hit stores this coming holiday season. They say that in the near future 1080p broadcasting will be there but for right now it's either 720p or 1080i (mostly 1080i).

AuDiOBoY529, Samsung is also coming out with a 1080p DLP, but this is not a big deal since nobody yet broadcasts in 1080p anyway. I would much rather have a Samsung or Mits than a Tosh (as a matter of fact, I do). And HD-DVD or Blu-Ray may only output 720p or 1080i, not 1080p, although we won't know for sure until they're actually in production. So I second irishrulze's comment above.

I have a Mits 62725 and love it. I debated about waiting but as with anything electronic, theres always something new due out in a few months. The new 1080P sets will be big bucks for a considerable time. Heck, the current sets are big bucks. Life is short.
