I actually soldered the wire into the end of the last set of crimp-on banana plugs I had, but I have read that crimping is better than soldering. Anyway, these look great, are really inexpensive and attach very quickly

I got 20 nice ones off ebay for $28ish a year ago. They've got a locking screw, but you could solder them as well. Well built, and can handle some heavy gauge wire.

I just picked up 10 sets of these for about $15 shipped. Can't go wrong for that price.

I got them in about 1 week and a 16 gauge wire twisted and doubled over fits perfectly in the plug even before you crimp it. Just thought I'd share

I have some of those banana plugs. over time the the vinyl casing gets hard and cracks/tears when you try to pull the plugs out from the receiver or speaker. If you plan to just install everything once and leave it there, you'll be fine. But if you like to plug and unplug multiple sets of speakers for testing, you might want to look at the monoprice banana plugs.

I also use these inexpensive plugs from Parts Express. Definitely like them better than the plugs in the original link.

Yah... I picked up a bunch of the Dayton rear/side entry screw on style a few years back at the Dayton Hamvention (HamRadio swap meet). Parts Express always has a BIG booth and they had some with water-damaged packaging. They are regularly $10 for 2 pairs... they were selling them for $2 for 2 pairs. I bought 4 sets (8 pairs). I went back later to get more but they were all gone. They've worked well for the past couple of years but they lose tension slowly, not enough that they come lose, but after 6 months they're a little wobbly. The black finish is also starting to rub off on some. I'll be replacing them with the Monoprice rear-entry style plugs when we move to our new house. They feel alot higher quality and the way they're designed I don't think they'll lose tendion at all.

Put a drop or two of solder in there - no worries.
