NEW YORK -- A New York Police Department spokesman says the actor Heath Ledger has been found dead at a downtown Manhattan residence.

I just read about Heath Ledger's death. I loved him in 'A Knights Tale', and was looking forward to seeing him in the next Batman movie next year.

So sad to see him go.

Dark Knight is finished filming. Apparently portraying the Joker was physically and I guess mentally tolling on him and he suffered from insomnia, where he only averaged 2 hours of sleep a night. The drugs found beside his body might have been sleeping pills.

This video, he talks about how hard the role was on him and that the movie is finished filming:

Who knows what really happened though, whether it was a suicide or accidental overdose.

He was a great actor, RIP

ya, I just read that to, I liked him.

Was thinking that the Darknight would becoem kind of a cult classic now like "the crow"
I heard while on the phone, I wasn't expecting that. Sad news!

At least he finished the Dark Knight, I hope they mention him in the end of the film.
See less See more
They'll mention him at the end of the film in the credits, something like this:
The Joker......Heath Ledger

No seriously, that's pretty sad news.
It really sucks. Yeah, I think DK will now have more viewers than before.
the dark knight was going to be big regardless. It will only be a bigger hit now.

Regardless though at the end of the day none of that matters because a life was lost and a 2 year old girl lost her father. Very sad rip
I really enjoyed a Knights Tale and was looking forward to seeing him in the new Batman movie. Sad indeed.
The end credits will say something of the memory of him, it being his last movie and all.
I hope they mention him in the beginning of the movie. He deserves it.
I doubt they will mention him in the begining....most movies give dedications at the end.
Then they are cold, heartless bastards in Hollywood. Put the dedication at the beginning!!

I think a dedication has more meaning right before the end credits, after the actor's work has been witnessed.

Look I don't want to seem insensitive because this is a sad day for all movie fans but he seems high in the above clip. They found pills in his room. Does anyone know how long ago this was shot? He doesn't look well at all.

When will these fantastic actors find a better way to spend their free time? Why is it those that have so much become so self destructive?

RIP HL!
Sad news, A Knights Tale is one of my favorites and I enjoyed Heath Ledgers work and the movies I have seen him in. He will be missed, RIP.
indeed very shocking & sad news. I was just talking to my friend this morning about how I couldn't stop watching the new DK trailer and loved his Joker.

I find it very eerie to see him now as the Joker & draw a likeness to Brandon Lee as the Crow. Both very tragic passings, way too young.

RIP
Really sad news. I liked him since "10 things I hate about you".
Really sad indeed. He was a great actor, who could do quite a bit. Going to watch Knight's Tale and Brokeback Mountain in memoriam next week probably. Most likely try to catch "I'm Not There" in theatres as well.
