I chose to go with the Dvi Hdmi cable rather than component so I could continue using WinDvD.. I just bought the TV and it looked pretty good with svideo at 800X600. But text was pretty bad. The problem is now the best looking res I can get is 640x480 in windows (can't even see boot messages). Two other basic resolutions worked but one was widescreen and the other had some gnarly overscan/underscan issues.

I looked thru my manual and it doesn't say anything about 'native resolution' but it lists 1080i 720p 480p and 480i as HDMI input resolutions. At 640x480 in windows display properties says 60hz. I tried powerstrip's preset config's but nothing extra worked and I am hesitant to try customizing anything - those warnings about permanently damaging the tv... I sit about 7 feet from the TV and 800x600 would have been ok had the text been a little sharper.

Anyhow, what do you guys think? Should I bag the dvi/hdmi and go to component? I'd like to stay with this sort of setup if possible to avoid having to use the ATi dongle or a transcoder etc.

Anybody have something similar and suggestions or powerstrip settings that would work. Even some more detailed specs or where to find them would help. Thank you all in advance..
