So, I've been using this for a year or so, I bought a new TV and added rear surround speakers, so I have a question for setting it up for 7.1.

Using a Sony BDPS301 Blu Ray player, connected to the receiver via HDMI, using Dolby Digital IIx as my sound format.

Watching "The Dark Knight" as my test movie. Display of the reciever says DD 3/2.1, but all the speakers are lit up, showing all 8.

Is this 7.1, or is something wrong with my setup? I hear sounds from all the speakers, but I'm not sure I have it set up correctly.

All help is appreciated. Thanks

3/2.1 is the odd way this model represents 5.1 content, DPLIIx is then post processing it to 7.1.....

This seems like normal operation to me, but I am not familure with this particular Sony model AVR.

Thanks, another quick question.

I put in Black Hawk Down. In the BD language menu, I have 5.1, and 5.1 uncompressed PCM.

If I choose 5.1, I have all 7 speakers working. If I choose 5.1 PCM, it gets a lot louder, and sounds better, but I have no rear surround, and I cannot change any settings on my AVR.

Any ideas why?
