This sounds like great news for PJs. Right now chromatic aberration messes up pixel convergence across the screen. Of course maybe it won't really pan out, but sounds important as described.

I think the opposite. First one's to market, will theoretically produce cheaper and sharper lenses. If successful, a third party (or original manufacturer) will start taking a bite into sales of the others, market share. If the theory translates to a viable production model, i imagine manufacturer's are working on it already, .But, being the snakes they all are , they will not cut pricing.

I learned my lesson on how quickly things can come to market. A company will have to take the theory and give it to R & D. Then it will have to be tested before being production ready. I may be wrong but I would guess a minimum of three years before a pj would implement this.

That being said if I go to Cedia then I will bring it up.

Oh please, spherical aberration stopped being a problem about 100 years ago. This is some guy who wants to find some really stupid investors to invest in this stupid scheme. Talk about a solution looking for a problem.

As alluded to in the article, only if you can afford expensive multi-element lenses with exotic coatings, or have undemanding optical requirements to begin with.

It sounds to me like rather than the above complex and costly, all that's needed now is to program the shape determined by the formula into the CNC lens grinders.

I expect the economic benefits will motivate rapid changeover.
