Well, this is becoming the time of the year when sports are coming back in full swing. Shortly we'll have hockey, then right after that, basketball.

Baseball playoffs are on their way in any day now and it seems as if were beginning to see some light shed on HD coverage of the sports.

Confirmed HD broadcasts:

-Edited-

Hockey - HDNet

MLS- HDNet

Basketball - NBA TV

NFL Football- ESPN-HD, CBS, ABC

College Football - CBS, ESPN-HD, possibly late/post season ABC HD, HDNet

Baseball - No Postseason HD expected at this point.

That's a count of 6 of 6 of the major money making/ratings sports in action at once excluding womens curling (lol) and Olympics. What I'm wondering is; just how many HD trucks there are in this country or on their way off the assembly line (per se) that we'll be seeing HD sports from this year.

At very least I hope that ESPN-HD can put some more trucks out in the field to share Hockey and post-season baseball until Fox takes over and have those trucks move on to basketball in HD.

What do ya think??

Hey, before laughing at Women's Curling, you might want to try watching some of it first. There's just something about a woman sliding on her knees yelling "Hurry!!!! Hurry Hard!!!!".

Regarding how many trucks, they're cranking them out as fast as that sort of thing can be cranked out. I would estimate triple the number of HD trucks being on the road by this time next year.

ESPN will have at least one more sometime *soon* with others following. Not for this baseball season, though. They would have to try to swing it with the trucks they have. Not sure if something will be ready for hockey, but I would imagine at some point in the season something will transpire....

I have no definite news, though.

AnthonyB,

Good rundown of current state of sports in HD. You forgot Tennis though, with the US Open currently being shown on InHD (on cable), along with College Football and repeats.

Hey, every now and then I watch the 9-ball matches on ESPN. It's better then some of the crap they show, but I'll only watch if there is nothing else even remotely interesting on. I wouldn't mind watching in HD. Be pretty easy to shoot with what, 2 cameras? Sometimes there is a really cute girl playing too.
