Hi,

My gut feeling tells me that Dell will not honor the orders for the NEC LT150 projector. I had my first order 11:00 AM July 19 and got an order number. My friend requested me to order one for him and I place the order at 12:30 PM and got no order number. I wrote customer service and got a reply yesterday which says in part 'Please be advised that the manufacturer discontinued the item on the same day your order was placed. Your order request has been cancelled.' I replied that if this true why are new orders being accepted up to Sunday, July 22? Then another email came in telling me that shipment for my first order is delayed till Aug. 6.

Even if Dell wants to honor these orders, I don't think NEC will let them as other dealers will be affected and will demand same treatment.

If there is a class suit, I'll join because I think Dell is not being fair, playing games by still accepting orders when they already know they made a mistake and will not ship.

As Alan said earlier, nobody has receive the projector, even those who ordered overnight shipping. I am still hoping that this will push through.

I seem to be getting the run around as ell I ordered next day air on the 20th. They were supposed to be shipped yesterday. Called and left about 8 msg's on my guys machine, never got a call back and the status on the web page still says processing. I called today and finally got him after talking to another person. He was irritated and said you should talk to me I'm your rep. I told him he should return his phone calls and I would.

ANyway of course the unit wasnt shipped today, but he swore he would get them out by 1pm today. I will call and we shall see. I doubt it happens though.

Hi,

In reply to my question on why are they accepting orders until Sunday when the projector order was deactivated July 19, here is the email from Mr. M. C. DeRosier of Dell DHS Customer Care:

Please accept my deepest apologies for this incovenience. It is not as you put it a cruel joke. I had a Dell Software and Accessories Specialist show me where it said that Dell would no longer be offering this item. The orders that were actually assigned an order number will never ship. The part number was deactivated on 7/19/01.

If you have something from Dell that is contrary to what is said in here, please post, let us have their varied responses.

Slight correction, the web site was still accepting orders as of around 7pm CT Monday 23rd.

I cant believe they wouldnt have fixed the web site AS SOON as they detected this funk up, let alone leave it for four days.

The NEC LT150 is STILL listed in the Medium and Large Business section of Dell's website for $1701.00.

Whether an order will be accepted or not, apparently no one, even at Dell, knows for sure.

I placed an order at 2:45P Pacific today on the web site and was sent an Acknowledgement of Receipt, but not an actual order number. Is there any hope for me (to get one of these)?

Dell is the most incompetent bunch of yahoos I've ever encountered. I absolutely refuse to ever again buy another piece of merchandise sold by Dell or ANY product with the Dell name on it. That's the polite way of putting it. To express my true feelings this would have to be an X rated forum. I'm thinking every four letter word I know right now. And the dirtiest most obscene four letter word of all is DELL.

Just got off the phone with Leah at Dell. She tells me they will ship. In fact, I originally placed 2 orders but only received 1 order number. I alerted Dell of this fact over the weekend and they just now advised me to call in, so I did. They let me place an order for another.

LOL! I couldn't afford the insurance! But I'd settle for a Corvette. :)

So they cancelled your confirmed order, I take it?

I wish this would get straightened out. (And I hope that I get the projector I tried to order!)

Not yet, Scott. I may have gotten worked up prematurely and I probably shouldn't have vented like I did. I'm just getting fed up with the way these clowns are handling this.

Hey,

I made an order earlier this morning over the phone... an I did receive an order number... although I don't necessarily believe the CSR he said shipping would take place around July 27th... I assume I'll get an email about the delay in a day or so...

I just got this somewhat odd email from Dell:

Quote:
Thank you for placing your order with Dell. This notice is to provide an

update on your software and accessories order # xxxx.

This order has missed or could potentially miss the estimated ship date

quoted to you. The new estimated ship date for your software and

accessories order is 8/6/01. *Note: If your order contains a computer

system this potential delay does not affect the shipment of the computer.

Should you wish to cancel any or all of your order due to this delay, call

1-800-289-3355 ext. 66966. Alternatively, for any order items that have

already shipped, we will promptly process a refund, including the return

shipping charges.

Again, we apologize for any inconvenience, and will ship out your order as

soon as possible.
I call this "odd," because I never received a ship date, either though the web-based order tracking system or from the automated phone system or from a sales rep (I placed my order online on Friday).

So, now I'm not sure when it will ship (or whether), but at least its better than having the order cancelled altogether.

Jeez people, Dell is runs a little late and a bit confused because they got flooded with LT150 orders they never expected (because, it's like an awesome price) and folks whine and scream that they'll never buy another Dell product (er, how many dells do you own now?) and if they don't ship they'll initiate a class action suit blah blah blah while Cygnus is a year late and folks defend them like the 2nd comming.

Right. Did any pannies get shipped on the 16th? I didn't think so.

Did anyone get an LT150 from Dell? Yes. Possibly two scanning the other threads. That's as many 751s that has shipped.

Did it ever occur to anyone that producing a major CF like that results in the ball being tossed around until someone has enough authority to sign off on the loss? How many of you would be willing to sign off on selling a bunch of projectors under cost or would you rather bump it up the chain of command so those folks making the big bucks have to earn it for a change?

Odds are most of the LT150s get shipped when they get back in stock...which we probably made a huge dent into when everyone here ordered one because it was too good to be true. Those that ordered late might have missed the boat...or not. As big a loss as it might be for a small retailer, it's probably noise for Dell even with the miniscule margins on PCs.

Hi,

I must be wrong after all. I just got an email from Dell Order Watch informing me that my order has shipped although there was no tracking number. I hope all of you who ordered will get this email soon to ease your anxieties.

Cheers!
