Hello,

my situation at the moment is that I change the display connectors of my pc between VGA-monitor and analog pj.

Now I want some smarter solution. I have the possibility to get a second pc which could be my HTPC with the pj as the only display.

Since I don´t really need two pc I´m not sure if a new graphics-adapter with two analog vga-connectors (dvi->vga) wouldn´t be the smarter solution.

What would you do ?

( I won´t do HDTV, just watch DVD)

ciao

The dual-output video board is a good and inexpensive solution. I am doing exactly what you asked about: one output to a monitor and another output to a projector. I use the 'mirror' or 'clone' display mode, with both outputs at the same resolution. You cannot have different resolutions to the two displays if you want both to have the 'start menu' (as with the 'mirror/clone' mode).

Good news ! I like the idea to have two displays on one pc.

When you say it is not possible to have different resolutions when cloning, does it mean, that I can set different resolutions when I use the pj as a desktop extension? Can I also use different refresh rates?

Is it this mode still possible to watch a dvd in fullscreen mode in the pj without borders. I have read that sometimes a movie will only be shown on one screen.

In extended desktop mode, you can use two different settings for resolution and refresh rate, yes.

Most dual-display boards allow DVD or other 'video overlay' in only one display, but this may have changed with DirectX 9 hardware. The one display that has video can be 'full-screen' OK.
