A shootout for the ages...

Ok, more like a fantasy for the moment.

All this projector chatter on the recent arrivals has me in knots. I can't speak for the rest of you but a shootout with the HD70, Ax100, and Sony's Pearl sure would be right up my alley. I can't help but wonder how close the Optoma budget king would fair to the new higher tech wonders from Sony and Panny.

Anyway, just food for thought for the next upcoming PJ shootout.

Good call. In my eyes, I think the ax100 looks as good on paper as any projector I have heard about. I want this thing and would like to see how it stacks up with these others
I third that emotion!;)
Well...all my reading here on AVS sure points towards the HD70. A high quality image at half or even a fifth the cost? But, a shootout is nonetheless the AVS way to know for sure. Might as well throw in that new Mits HD1000 for good measure.

I think it would depend a lot on how badly you want a well calibrated display and how bright it needs to be (i.e. screen size). From reading the HD70 and HD3000U threads, both may be able to be calibrated, but you won't get anywhere near the lumens that are seen from OTB calibrations.

For me, I think the IN76 would be the best as I want decent calibration (like my 4805) and a lot of lumens (for my 130" screen).

So it seems. Those lumens DO make a difference. One of the locals here with a Ruby may have a Pearl to try soon. That may answer some Qs for me.
