I'm going to order some more HD DVDs from Amazon (Casino, Wolf Creek, Seabiscuit, Black Rain, Unforgiven and Training Day).

When a couple of months ago there was a discussion about the bobbed/wrongly filterred or transferred movies by Warner, someone mentioned that Training Day also suffered from this (despite having awesome PQ quality).

I used the search function but couldn't find any more information if this was true or just a rumor. Could anyone please confirm this? Thank you.

Training day was not bobbed.

The issue was that Warner had used older 1080i masters that had been vertically filtered (to reduce aliasing on 1080i broadcast) on some of their movies. This leaves them lacking in detail, and when deinterlaced for HD DVD it introduced jaggies on diagonal lines.

Apparently Training Day also comes from a 1080i master, but one that hadn't been vertically filtered. Aside from some minor color banding in the opening shot and one or two very brief spots with edge ringing, Training Day is one of the best-looking HD DVDs out there.
