Would a small diameter sonotube (or PVC?) work well with an 8" speaker? Would it be possible to locate one on its side, or does it have to be vertical?

I had a subwoofer project before that was a tube. I bought a Quicktube (used for concrete) from Home Depot 12" diameter. Works very well and very cheap like $7. There is a 10" woofer on one end and a 3" port on the other tuned at 21 Hz. Results are amazing!! Looks ugly though.

Sizes that are available at the Home Depot are 8", 10", and 12" diameter, 4 feet tall. They are similar to the Sonotube except that the sizes are smaller. I beleive that the sonotubes are 16" diameter or larger.

These smaller tubes might be available at Lowes also but I am not sure, since I have not checked.
