Hi All, newbie and first time poster so please bear with me.
Problem: I have a HDTV cable tuner downstairs in my home theater, connected to the projector. Upstairs in the family, I ahve a regular TV. I have CAT 5 going from the family room to the basement and have a PC hooked up to it. I also ahve a radio tuner downstairs with poor FM reception.
What I would like to do is remove the PC from the network and use a wireless adapter since I'm also running 802.11b.
Connect the Composite video out, audio left, right out and the FM anntea for the tuner to some adapter that will carry these signals over the 8 wires of CAT 5 to upstairs. I then do the same thing and separte them out.
THere are products from www-svideo-com that provides conversion for S video and perhaps even composite video. But i want to create my own to carry composite video, L/R audio and FM reception.
If i get the parts from radioshack, solder them on a board and connect the other end to an RJ45 jack - will this work or will I have impedence mismatch? Or, are tehre other products I can look at. I've already tried wireless using 900 MHz form x10 - they don't work. i've head taht the 2.4GHz don't work well either.
I'm handling the IR for the cable box by using an IR/RF converter from Radio Shack.
Yes - it would be easy to get another cable box from my provider - which is what I have now. however, I don't see the point of it because I'm either watching TV upstairs or downstairs... never both.
