I just signed up for local cable service, and the unit I received was the Motorola DCT-6412 Dual Tuner PVR 120GB. It comes with no less than 2 USB ports, 2 firewire ports, and an ethernet port. However, it seems that with almost all units these days that I've seen, they include stuff like this but never take advantage of them.


Are there any hacks/tweaks out there to utilize these ports? Thanks.

No hacks, as the unit is owned by the cableco and they'll hit you for about $500 for the box if is opened.


Firewire is active and can be used to off load HD to a D-VHS deck or PC. See the HDTV Recorders Forum for more details.


Ethernet and USB are not functional at this time.
