No. $99 USD VB50HRTV ( www.amazon.com NTSC version of the one you listed which should do both NTSC and PAL--also available here as the XGA theater on http://www.avtoolbox.com/video-to-vga.htm for $129 USD) won't transcode the component to VGA. It scales and deinterlaces Svideo & composite (no component input), and tunes TV via analog coaxial cable signals. It has Macrovision problems so will cause brightness and darkness flickering on DVD via Svideo processing. Plus it does not do the 16:9 squeeze (unlike Iscan v2/Pro or more expensive scalers) so you can't take advantage of the anamorphic DVDs (your PJ may disable the squeeze through VGA port--at least my NEC LT150 does). It has 852X480 wide VGA mode so perfect for TV and VHS watching on AE100 but won't help your RP91 look better.

AA transcoder (component->VGA) costs more $179-199 from www.copperbox.com but actually switches the signals from progressive component to VGA (can't double interlace component) for sharper image on AE100 (its component is reportedly crappy and fuzzy). You should still get the cheap scaler you mentioned for other sources and TV and run the AA transcoder into the scaler VGA passthrough (allow IR remote switching between scaler (TV/VHS/LD) and RP91).

No comparison--- for Prog.DVD component sources with an AE100, GET THE AA!
