I have a Motorola digital cable box and a General Instruments Hi Definition Decoder. It is working fine for CBS, and NBC, and HBO high definition channels. When I try to switch to ABC however, it switches to and recoginizes that it is HDTV and I hear audio, but after about 10 seconds the screen saver comes on and audio goes off. Anybody have any suggestions?

Off the top of my head...
  • ABC is the only broadcast network that uses the 720p format. Perhaps your tuner is incompatible with 720p and cannot/won't upconvert/downconvert to 1080i or 480p.
  • ABC doesn't broadcast all of its programming in HDTV (esp. Monday nights, when none of its schedule is HDTV).

I switched the Hi Def Decoder to force 1080i and that got me ABC. I had it in Native, which is supposed to allow whatever the format of the source is to go through. The Mitsubishi WS55809 is supposed to be able to handle everything from 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i. Thanks for the post, that got me thinking.
