It was HD in LA...However, I a/b'd my DVD with the broadcast and the DVD through progressive scan Pioneer 47a looked better and it was OAR. I switched to the DVD!!

Indeed. It also looked to me like they had squeezed at the sides to get more of the 2.35:1 frame into the 1.77:1 HD frame. This seemed to get thinner when they were close to the edge. Of course, it was severe cropovision on analog
HD and 5.1 in Seattle as well. Which was a pleasent surprise as our local ABC channel - KOMO-TV - is, shall we say, inconsistant at best. I've been told that they have state-of-the-art equipment.
