About G2 Procedure on Sony 12xx

Hi!:D

I need a precision about G2 adjustment procedure and BIAS settings on Sony 12xx

Manual service says look in the lenses for G2 adjustment, but it doesn't says if on-screen display must be turn on or off, that makes a big difference on final result

For BIAS adjustments, same problem with onscreen display (STATUS ON/OFF) and where to look? on screen or in the lenses?

Thank you for your help!!

Best regards

Hi,

I think the proceedure is different for the 1270 and the 1271,1272. So, you may need to be more specific about which projector your tuning.

On my 1271, I've done the adjustment both ways (voltage ajustment and looking into tubes). Both methods produced roughly the same results. I think if you do the look into the tubes method you need the status on.

Guys,

With the 1270 you can,t use a voltmeter to set the G2, you have to look into the tubes after first turning off the power then shorting out the AKB connector on the internal board as per the manual.

I did my bias and gain on to the screen, as it puts up the internal pluge test pattern, with the room lights off, then contrast and brightness with Video Essentials according to normal viewing room light levels.

Don,t know if you need status ON, to do bias and gain (you don,t need it for G2 as its a pot adjustment) give it a try either way.

hello guys,

Brian,

it's a 1270 so Mark is right, I can't use voltmeter.

I asked about onscreen display because results are very differents and I can't choose the good way to adjust G2 and BIAS

For example:

- with status off during G2 and Bias and looking in the lens I find R=14/G=MIN/B=79

-with status on during G2 and Bias and looking at the screen I have R=160/G=96/B=165

and if I mixed status on during an adjustment with status off for the other with lens for G2 and screen for Bias I find othes values

So, what is the good way for these adjustments?

THank you for your help!

Bruno

Bruno,

Leave the status on. Those numbers are in the ballpark.
