I just bought a new home with a Russound 4 Zone 1 source unit installed but it is missing the power supply. Is it really a special power supply for $100 or is there a generic that will work? Thanks for the help.

I have a lead on one here at work from Digikey for like $20.

Haven't gotten around to the details (is the current right, is the plug right, etc.).

Can you measure (with calipers) the diameter of the plug?

I believe it is 12V, but how many amps (5?)?

If you can, I can find out for the both of us.

Any 24v DC power supply will work as long as it has a regulated output and is rated at 2.5 amps or greater.

The power supply is fairly spendy because it's regulated and 2.5A is relatively high current.

I'm sure you can find a less expensive alternative if you look around.

Getting closer..

I measured my plug at 5.5mm and it is 24v and 2.5A.

Now I need the plug I.D. and the plug length.

Looking like $30-ish.

First off, I take ZERO responsibility for anything that happens using either of these power supplies or any other power supply or any other product that exists that you might think about buying. You buy and use at your own risk.

I found 2 that I think would work.

Digikey PN T966-P5P-ND or a T1049-P5RP-ND

One has a right-angle connector, one doesn't. The OEM one is a straight connector, but I personally think a right-angle connector would work nicer. They have plenty of both in stock and they're both $32.90.

Heck, you could buy you one, me one, and still come out ahead. =)

Let me know how it works.

Those look perfect and you're warning is duly noted. The house has one Russound LRC-2 but all the rest of the wall plates are all missing but the CAT5 is all intact. I've been looking at a kit like this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=190367686981 so I might not need the power supply but it is good to see one for a 1/3 of the price. Thank you very much.

I could stand to have more keypads for when I finish out my basement. From what I've seen, you can get that kit for the same cost as getting 4 keypads all alone. In my case, I'll end up with 2 extra distribution hubs. Whatever I guess.

Hope you won it, hope it works.
