I got a few questions and hopefully someone can help me out.

First is regarding AC3, and the ffdshow audio, whenever I select pass through I get this wierd overly digitized sound to all the voices, very raspy and unclear. If I choose to decode it I only get stereo (even though it says that it is outputing 6 channel). It also refuses to encode files into AC3 for digital output. DTS works fine though both pass through and decode.

I am using zoom player and I have gone into options and selected directsound: Asus xonar digital output.

The other question is regarding the ffdshow scaler, whenever I resize sd videos the colors become distorted and rgb range seems to get compressed. No i'll effect when scaling 720 to 1080 though.

Finally, my last question is regarding cpu load. No matter what I do my cpu load reads 0% even when the video becomes somewhat choppy or slows down. My best guess is that my gpu is handling all the weight so I was wondering if I can force my cpu to take some of the load.

So you know, I am using Vista 64bit ultimate, I use zoom player and my pc specs are

Core i7 920

6gigs of ram

dual ati 4870

Asus xonar 1.3 hd

if anyone can help I would really appreciate it.

Alright since no one seems to know or is willing to help. I might as well answer my own questions just in case someone else is having the same problems.

First the easy one, in regards to cpu load. If you are using vista 64bit with an i7 core and in fdshow you are seeing 0% cpu usage try installing SP1. Beyond a slight performance boost it is now giving (what I am assuming) an accurate cpu usuage readout.

In regards to AC3, if you can't encode other formats into ac3 for spdif output enable the resampler and set it to 48k.

If you are getting the raspy voices much like I was, simply disable spdif out for ac3, enable the resampler again, and select encode as AC3.

All that is left is the resize issue hopefully I can figure that one out if you know please help me out.
