I have everything set up hardware-wise. I have an HDTV, an HTPC, and a Surround Home Theatre System. I can get 5.1 Surround when playing Bluray discs. But when using my computer to play files, it doesn't output surround sound correctly.


I am currently using AC3 filter and was wondering the exact settings are?


Any help?

I'd like to mention that my computer is doing passthrough.


Meaning that my laptop HDMI is connected directly to the HDTV while my AUDIO is using SPDIF into my HT Receiver

I had that settings but it doesn't quite output the 5.1.

Any ideas on why? If you guys can ask me specific questions, I can give you specific details on what I need to change software-wise.

yuo aren't using divx7 are you? if so that your problem, and until there is a ac3 decoder for media foundation it wont work.


you can install shark007 codecs if you are still having problems.
